...suddenly found myself with a new lease of life
I had been divorced for 10 years and suddenly found myself with a new lease of life – I had lost a little bit of weight and all my friends kept telling me how young I looked and this was giving me so much confidence. So much so, that I found myself in a new relationship with a man 27 years my junior.
We had been seeing each other for about six months and everything was going great, in all areas! But I was starting to get myself worked up and worried about the future. I knew it couldn’t last – why would he want to be with an old woman? I was starting to wake each day thinking is this the day he is going to come to his senses and walk away, and to make matters worse I was sure that I was falling in love with him.
One evening I found the courage to phone one of your readers and I’m so glad I did. We talked through all the good things going on in my relationship and I came to realise that I was focusing too much on the future. Whenever we love, we risk loss... but he was worth the risk! I needed to just enjoy every moment and be grateful that we were together, no matter how long that may be. One day he may want to move on and I’d have to move on too, but today wasn’t that day.
I am pleased to say that a year later we are still together and so happy – I have grown stronger and have confidence in myself that I can meet any challenge that life may throw at me. He loves me for who I am and doesn’t want to change anything about me, not even my age!!
